Celebrating Tyler's 2nd Birthday

We started Tyler's birthday celebration by going to lunch with Uncle Ryan, Aunt Jen, Elle, Grammy, Grampy, Grammy and Papa. After lunch we had to come home for Tyler to nap and so I could finish decorating his birthday cake. Tyler had a big surprise waiting for him when he woke up from his nap - a new playset in the backyard!

When Tyler woke up from his nap, we took him outside to see his new playset. He was so excited! As soon as he saw it, he immediately screamed "swingset" and started running toward it. His favorite thing is definitely the slide. He will climb up the ladder and go down the slide over and over again. Hopefully he will warm up to the swing soon. After playing outside for a little while we came in and had pizza, cake and ice cream and opened a couple presents.

Reading his new Curious George books
Tyler loves his bath crayons and
bedtime book from his cousin Caleb in California
Tyler had a great birthday! He is a very lucky little boy and we are so blessed to have enjoyed the last 2 years with him. We pray for many more birthday celebrations to come.

Say goodbye to the pacifier!

We have finally gotten rid of the pacifier or "py-o" as Tyler called it. He had been getting more and more attached to it in recent weeks, not only at naptime and bedtime, but all throughout the day as well. We knew it was time to start taking it away. So when we got home from the beach we hid all of them and told Tyler that we had had to leave his pacifiers at the beach for the baby fish to use. He seemed to go along with that story okay but we knew that bedtime was coming soon and didn't know how that would go. He had a little trouble going to sleep the first night and he cried for about an hour before he finally went to sleep. After the first night though, he has done great! He hasn't asked for it much and when he has mentioned it, we remind him that they are at the beach and that satisfies him. It has been a little over a week now so I think we can claim victory! Now on to the next task - Potty Training!

Weekend at the Beach

This past Wednesday we headed down to Isle of Palms with the Colburn side of the family. Tyler had a ball playing with his cousin Elle. We spent most of our time in the pool since the beach was a little too windy for the kids. The guys played some golf while the girls shopped a little. Our favorite dinner was at The Boathouse where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset and some great seafood. We were also able to meet my sister and her family for dinner on Saturday night as they were beginning their week at the beach. All in all, we had a great weekend and enjoyed spending time with our family!

Macey's 4th birthday

On Saturday we headed up to Asheville for Macey's 4th birthday party. It is so hard to believe that she is already 4! Jen and Randy had rented a huge bounce house and Macey was so excited when she went outside and saw it. She had so much fun with her friends and cousins jumping in the bounce house, hitting the baseball in the backyard and playing on the swing set. It was a beautiful day and the party was a success!

Well, it wasn't Disney World...

We were supposed to be at Disney World this weekend but because of the threat of hurricanes, we decided to reschedule. Luckily, Tyler isn't really old enough to know he should have been disappointed. Instead, we had a fun weekend at home. Saturday night we took Caleb, Catie and Tyler to Mr. Gatti's - can't say that I'm a big fan but the kids absolutely loved it! They had so much fun on the bumper cars and the carousel.

Then on Sunday we spent the day at Lake Keowee with my cousins. It was a beautiful day and the kids were absolute angels! Tyler loved being around his cousin Zachary. They are going to be big buddies someday!

Look at the gorgeous sky!

Brad and the sweet, sleepy boys

Tyler had so much fun on the lake and is becoming quite the little swimmer. He wanted to keep sliding off the back of the boat into the water and wasn't at all scared when he went under. He would just pop right up, wipe his eyes and want to go do it again. Brad was able to get a pretty good video of his cute little legs under water.

Tyler ended the day asleep in my arms. I think he wore himself out with all the swimming. We had a great weekend, even though we didn't make it to Disney World. We'll look forward to that in a few more months!

Welcome to Our Blog!!

So, I have made excuses for months now not to create a blog... not enough time, other things are more important, no one really cares about what we do, and on and on. But after months and months of reading all of your blogs, I have finally given in. We now have our own blog! So now, instead of spending so much of my time reading about other people's lives, I now will write about ours. Enjoy your glimpse into the life of the Colburn family....
